The CHS Foundation Raises $33,800 During The Annie B's Community Drive

The Chico High School Foundation (CHSF) board is very pleased and proud to announce that we received over $33,000 in donations during the North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF) sponsored Annie B's Community Drive fund raising efforts for non-profit organizations.

Special gratitude is extended to everyone who contributed to a fund of choice. Of note, for the 5th consecutive year, an anonymous donor established a $12,000 engineering scholarship for a student who will enter CSU, Chico next fall. Additionally, Mr. Harry A. Merlo added $5000 to his Agriculture scholarship endowment, and Don and Ester Jewett created a new $5000 fund for Construction Programs at the high school.

We also wish to acknowledge Alexa Valavanis, Executive Director, and Lee Laney, Program Administrator, of the NVCF who did an excellent job organizing and administering the Annie B. program for the community non-profit agencies. The non-profits, including the CHSF, received an Annie B. bonus grant in the amount of 11%. The board will add a bonus check , reflecting this percentage amount, to each of the sixteen accounts that received donations under our management.

Behind the scene, there are two civic-minded individuals who donated $50,000 a year for a five year period to seed the Annie B's program. Without their extraordinarly generous commitment to the Chico community, the Annie B's incentive grant program would not be possible. The non-profits earned over $1.3 million during the Annie B. period. This relects most admirably on the generiousity of the entire Chico community.

The Chico High School Foundation board sincerely appreciates the support of our alumni, parents, and the dedicated people associated with the North Valley Community Foundation who made the Annie B's Community Drive such a rousing success for Chico non-profit organizations.
