Math Department
The math department is made up of 13 teachers, many of whom participate in on-going professional development through the CSU Chico Math Project.
The curriculum used in Chico High's mathematics program is research-based and designed to build students’ conceptual understanding. In addition to the challenging AP courses offered at Chico High, all students are eligible to enroll in university level classes at CSU Chico.
The Chico High Math Department is committed to providing all students with the tools and opportunities to succeed in a rigorous high school mathematics program.

Peer tutors are also available for intervention and support.
MESA
Chico High has an active MESA (Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement) Program. One of the country's most innovative and successful programs, MESA works with Chico High’s educationally disadvantaged students so that they can excel in math and science and go on to study math, engineering or science at the university level.
